Warm Greetings from the Gulf Coast of Florida! The Camels and I are on a much anticipated vacation. Starting and ending each day in the water. Floating in the waves and soaking in the sunshine. And of course, writing new poems and imagining new ideas to share for future Wednesdays at the Well.
Today’s post is a short poem. About lessons we have learned in and from the water. Water is filled with lessons and this poem captures just an ounce of them.
Water Lesson

our swim instructor said
remember you are weightless in water
and I was
doing all the things I couldn’t do on land
somersaults and splits
cartwheels and flips and handstands
breathing so deeply and joyfully
inhaling and exhaling rhythmically
effortlessly as I glided the length of the pool
with my eyes wide and curiously open
always choosing not to wear goggles
free and fearless and brave
and courageous and alive
maybe I was a mermaid
or a fish
whatever I was
I was different
and by different I mean
I was myself
returning to the water
remembering the lesson
you are weightless
Allow a lesson you’ve learned from water to rise to the surface. How does it feel? How has it impacted your living? Have you ever shared it?
Water-fully Yours, Rebecca & 10 Camels
It made me smile thinking of you doing all those acrobatics. Enjoy the water. In a water baby myself. X0 Cheryl W😘
There is nothing more peaceful than watching the waves (particularly at sunset) lap on the beach and breathing in and out to that rhythm.
