Love: Cliff Note Conversation
Letters from Light, Advent Poems
The fourth and final week of Advent is here. Today is also Christmas Eve, when the last Advent candle will be lit in celebration of Jesus’ birth. Christianity isn’t the only faith tradition with candles aglow this time of year. In the dim moments, when it feels like violence and suffering are inescapable realities, I imagine all the candles of creation coming together for good. Oh, the potential we hold, if only we’d lay down our weapons and choose to collectively shine!
It feels right to end this Advent series with a LOVE poem. Read and listen below. And then, if and as you are able, make space in the coming days to sit with LOVE, have a conversation, be open to transformation.
I am so grateful for each of you and your presence here at Wednesdays at the Well. You are all lights in my life and creative work.
With Love,
Rebecca & 10CAMELS
Love: Cliff Note Conversation ©Rebecca Wilson, December 2025 more than once not so long ago in a land not real far away a queer kid heard an elder say stop, I speak the truth in love you’re going to hell that kid became an adult their body and desires the way they experienced the world like love, a mystery they feared shadows overcame them shame steamed every mirror love knocked they disappeared falling in pushed them in to deep despair love kept calling softly joined them there love spoke they listened they cried love heard prayerful promises silent screams whispered words here’s the cliff note conversation truth is fiction unless inviting transformation hell is not a destination rather living life consumed by hatred loving self is not a sin especially when you’ve been named abomination loving others is a gift given and received strong doubt, brave belief blissful risk, vulnerable healing love is burning like a candle faceless as the wind the flame will warm us or destroy us choice is ours to let them in love is brilliance illuminating trepidating proclamating hopeful peaceful joyful co-creating the moment we strike the match miracles begin
